Blog #7
My Weebly!!!!!!!!!!
Diigo is another useful site for students and teachers alike. It helps you to congregate all of your useful links and websites into one area and find them easily through tags. It helped me brainstorm hashtags and really focus in on the important information. I really like how you can highlight parts on a page for easier access and visibility. This is useful in the classroom for guiding students on what they need to read or research so they stay on track and learn how different articles and sites relate through hashtags. It's alsoa great way to stay organized amongst yourself and co-workers AND on top of everything you can totally collaborate with others to increase your resources and make sure your Diigo saves are at top quality.

Poetry Song ILP
I wrote a song about Poetry for my ILP. Below is the link and a copy of the lyrics.
http://yoreidyo.tumblr.com/post/151988454101/poetry-song-for-class
There are many different kinds of poetryLike free free verse haiku limericks sonnets and elegys
The world is yours to write about so make words into beauty
Cus poetry is everywhere and even you can poetryA stanzas like a paragraph inside of a poem
A verse is a line inside a poem, together they make a stanza
Form is how you convey your content
There's many shapes and sizes
And poems are like lyrics but you don't always have to rhyme themSo write down the feelings inside of your head
And make a piece of art that you can show your mom and dad
Poetry will free your soul and make your spirit soar
Talk about the things that shake you down to your coreAlliteration is repeating letters at the beginning of your words like
Hey hello how's having hungry Hungarians hating hockey??
Hyperbole is exaggeration like I could eat a whole cow
I can't really eat a whole cow but wouldn't that be funny?
A simile is a comparison using like or as like
I'm as cool as a cucumber or cool like an ice cream coneA metaphor is a like a simile but no like or as
Like I'm about to explode or this is a song of my soulSo write down the feelings inside of your head
And make a piece of art that you can show your mom and dad
Poetry will free your soul and make your spirit soar
Talk about the things that shake you down to the coreImagery is a vivid language
Sight sound touch taste smelltone or mood helps give the feelings
If you're sad and feeling bluerhythm or meter of a poem is like pacing and the flow
And an oxymoron is a contradiction like
Jumbo shrimp or I'm busy doing nothing
Personification is giving human characteristics
To objects like a bowling ball or a half eaten Twinkie
Onomatopoeia is words that make a sound
Like meow buzz tick and tock and eidkdbshsisbsvsjsbvhauSo write down the feelings inside of your head
And make a piece of art that you can show your mom and dad
Poetry will free your soul and make your spirit soar
Talk about the things that shake you down to the coreThis was a song I hope you enjoyed
I could have been longer than longBut then you would get annoyed
I'll leave you with a final line to give you a proper goodbyePoetry can't write itself so be a poet and poem some poetry yourself

Tech 6
When I enter the teaching profession, I see myself using technology to make my job easier, more organized, and more interactive. With technology advancing at an exponential rate, I can only imagine what tools will be available as time goes on. Communication between teacher and student/parents will be more accessible with new apps programs. Smart boards are a tool that teachers I had in high school used and it made things more organized and customized.
When we went to the technology sandbox, my mind was blown. As someone who wants to teach English, it seems difficult to really incorporate virtual reality and other similar technologies in the classroom especially for high school. One thing I mentioned before is the use of smart boards to teach lessons. They let you pre-load lesson plans that you can draw on and have students interact together through games and quizzes.

Quit Playing Games With My... Brain?
Web 2.0 tools are a very important part of modern curriculum not only because they open the door to new ways of learning and teaching but they also push the boundaries of how students receive information relevant to their learning style. There's an app I have used called Duolingo and its use is to teach foreign language. The app works very well for me and teaches me in such a way that sitting in a classroom cannot. Mobile apps are a great Web 2.0 tool because there are so convenient and interactive which maintain attention and are also relatively fun! Although Web 2.0 tools are completely necessary, a teacher would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did not take advantage of all the great learning tools available these days.
One Web 2.0 website I found is called http://jott.com/ This app allows users with the same app to interact via group chat regardless of having service or not. It's used off of Bluetooth and wifi. What it does is it allows users who have the same app to create a group and interact with each other. It's useful in many scenarios for example school field trips, group work in class, or while playing a game. There's no need for phone numbers, just to join the group chat you want to be in. Although this may be difficult to apply to classrooms due to most phone rules at schools, I can definitely see this being used on a educational field trip to a museum or park so students can talk and compare observations without direct communication.
I think that gamification is going to be the biggest addition to modern teaching. Who doesn't love to play games? Students learn while adding fun, competition, and use of new technology. I thik gamification seems most important because when I was in school this wasn't really an option. iPhones and iPads didn't exist until the later years of high school and at that point they were still to new to be really integrated into modern teaching curriculum. Teachers of all grade levels can use this tool to empower students and show them that education can be fun and playful instead of so serious and mundane. With technology advancing every single day, I don't see a future where gamification isn't part of the average day in a classroom setting.

Blog Number 3!
I am a pretty technology savvy dude with a handful of good ideas so the one ELA technology standard I think I am most prepare to teach is SL. 5 Using Digital Media. I have always been one to go above and beyond whether it be a speech/powerpoint, creating a video for a class, or using digital media in another way that is innovative and refreshing. It’s almost likely that by the time I enter the teaching field my students will have surpassed e in knowledge of technology. Digital media was always a facet of learning that grabbed my attention more than others due to the customization and way you can cater it to your needs/desires. Since i’d be teaching, digital media could be a great way for experiencing different medias of poetry and short stories. The technology standard that would require the most preparation is RHST. 7 Multimedia: History/Social Studies not because of technology but because I was never good at history or social studies. Although I have a few ideas on how to implement technology into the criteria, I would still need to do a lot of research just for content knowledge.
I would like to teach freshman/9th grade so blending technology into the curriculum should be nothing too out of my league. Most students entering high school already have a solid grasp on the types of programs/applications needed for technology integration. Some applications i’d like to use would be a class discussion board for homework assignments and to be used like an online forum for the students to have open discussions. Other apps include grammar correction and even language learning apps to really help open the mind to more possibilities. Another application I could use would be a personality app to help connect better to my students and to learn more about them as individuals.
Well for starters I never knew how to design a newsletter the official way, only the rogue DIY style that my brain to conjure up. The newsletter seems easy to do, but every step seemed like something i’d never used before and I fell behind because of my ignorance. It was very informative and “fun” to do, but the tasks to get there were a lot harder than originally thought. I can improve it next time by taking notes and asking more questions during the process. A newsletter is a skill that is very applicable to the classroom since most teachers send out some sort of information update to parents. It’s also good outside the classroom for scenarios like church, writing articles, or perhaps for information in regards to a hobby.
